Become a Central York Chamber Ambassador
Help welcome, connect, and strengthen the Central York business community.
The Central York Chamber Ambassador Program is a volunteer leadership opportunity for engaged members who want to play a more active role in supporting Chamber members, strengthening connections, and helping create a welcoming experience at Chamber events and programs.
Ambassadors act as community connectors. They help welcome new and existing members, encourage engagement, support Chamber events, and serve as a positive representative of the Central York Chamber of Commerce across Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, and the broader Central York business community.
Program Length
The Ambassador Program runs on a one-year term, aligned with the Chamber’s annual program cycle. Ambassadors may have the opportunity to reapply or continue in future years based on program needs, participation, and interest.
About the Program
The Ambassador Program is designed for Chamber members who are passionate about relationship-building, local business, and community engagement. Ambassadors help strengthen the member experience by creating meaningful touchpoints with members throughout the year.
As part of the program, Ambassadors may support areas such as:
- Welcoming new members and helping them feel connected
- Attending and supporting Chamber events
- Encouraging member participation in programs and networking opportunities
- Sharing feedback and insights from the membership community
- Acting as a positive Chamber representative in the community
- Supporting member outreach, recruitment, and retention efforts
Committee Engagement
Ambassadors are part of a Chamber-led volunteer committee focused on member engagement and connection. Committee participation may include regular check-ins, planning discussions, event support, and outreach activities.
Ambassadors may also have the opportunity to support specific areas of focus, such as:
- Member outreach and welcome calls
- Event greeting and networking support
- Member recruitment and referrals
- New member engagement
- Ambassador leadership roles, where available
Minimum Expectations
To ensure the program is meaningful for both Ambassadors and the Chamber, selected participants are expected to:
- Maintain an active Central York Chamber membership
- Attend Ambassador meetings and committee touchpoints whenever possible
- Participate in Chamber events throughout the year
- Support member outreach and engagement efforts
- Actively welcome and connect members at events
- Represent the Chamber in a professional, inclusive, and positive manner
- Promote Chamber programs, events, and opportunities within their network
- Provide feedback that helps improve the member experience
Ambassadors should be willing to commit time each month to Chamber engagement, including meetings, outreach, and event participation.
